Top 5 CV, 3W Makers in 2022: FADA Vehicle Retail Data

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) recently released the vehicle retail data for December'22 and CY'22. 

Per the FADA records, the sales of electric three-wheelers in 2022 set new records and 63,655 units were sold. Three-wheeler sales in December 2022 increased to 18672 from December 2021. 

In December 2022, 66,945 commercial vehicles were sold in India. 

5 CV manufacturers like Tata Motors, Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, VE Commercial Vehicles, and Maruti Suzuki are becoming more popular in 2022 due to their robust and fuel-efficient engines.

5 Top Commercial Vehicle Makers 

#Tata Motors 

Like every time, this time too, Tata Motors has achieved first place in the sale of heavy vehicles. 

According to FADA, the Tata company sold 26,049 units of trucks with 38.91% Market Sharing in December 2022. 

#Mahindra & Mahindra Trucks  

Mahindra has been the second-largest player in the growth rate of sales of small and light commercial vehicles 

Mahindra sold a total of 16,928 units and took 23.56% of the Indian market share.

#Ashok Leyland 

As we can see, the increasing number of Ashok Leyland vehicles on all rural and urban roads shows that the company is successfully selling its products.  

Chennai-based Ashok Leyland appeared as the third-largest player in Dec 2022 by selling 10,178 units, taking 15.20% of the market share. 

#VE Commercial Vehicles LTD 

VE Commercial Vehicles LTD commanded a 6.14% share of the market with a sale of 4,113 units in December 2022 which is higher than in December 2021. 

#Maruti Suzuki 

Maruti Suzuki has registered 5th position among India's top passenger vehicle manufacturers, with a retail volume of 3,043 units this month. 

The company has a market share of 4.5% in the overall CV market of India.

5 Top Three-Wheeler Makers 

#Bajaj Auto Ltd 

Bajaj Auto Ltd held the first position by selling (35%). According to FADA, the company sold 22,065 units in the Indian market.

#Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd 

Piaggio, the second largest manufacturer of three-wheelers in India, recorded an 8% increase in 3W sales per the December 2022 FADA calculation.  

Comparison of last year, the brand successfully sold 5,013 units this year. 

#Mahindra & Mahindra Limited  

Looking at the December 2022's FADA 3W sales graph, the sales growth of Mahindra & Mahindra can be observed.  

Company sales increased by 4% as it sold 2,491 units in this month. 

#YC Electric Vehicle 

YC Electric Vehicles sold 2,376 units in the month with nearly 4% market share, emerging as the number 4th player in the overall three-wheeler segment. 

#Saera Electric Auto Pvt Ltd 

We have another battery-operated electric vehicle maker, which achieved 5th place in the segment, indicating a strong demand for locally manufactured affordable e-rickshaw with 3% of the market share.
