Three-Wheeler Retail Sales Growth Rate: September 2022

Lately, the FADA released sales figures for September 2022 for 3-wheeled vehicles, and it has been the best month for the country's overall 2W, 3W, PV, CV, and TRAC sales. 

Based on year-on-year, the total vehicle retail sales for September 2022 recorded an 11% growth.

Likewise, we can also witness increasing demand for vehicle sales due to festivals.

According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), "The 3W segment continues to see the structural shift from ICE to EV. It is also reflected in the extremely healthy growth rate of e-rickshaws. Apart from better availability of vehicles with full range products including alternate fuels, customers have started using public transport and rickshaw service, thus fuelling demand in this segment."

Overall, the three-wheeler segment documented a strong growth of 71%.

3W Vehicle Retail Data for September 22

1- The above numbers do not have figures from MP, LD & TS. Even though MP is now on Vahan, due to the unavailability of the previous year’s figure, we have not taken them in our comparison for September’22.

2- Vehicle Retail Data has been collated as on 2nd October 2022 in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, and has been gathered from 1,339 out of 1,411 RTOs.

# BAJAJ AUTO

Bajaj Auto has made the first rank with all its top segments, including Bajaj Compact Re, Bajaj Maxima Z, Bajaj Maxima C, and Bajaj Maxima X Wide. If we look at the figures, Bajaj sold 19,474 units in September 2022 and 13,849 units in September 2021. Resultant, it recorded a gain of 30.47%.

# Piaggio Auto

Piaggio has secured second place in three-wheelers sales. The brand sold 5,116 vehicles in September, including Piaggio APE E CITY, Xtra LDX, Auto DX, E XTRA, City Plus, and Auto HT Dx. Also, Piaggio vehicles have achieved an 8% market share in the 3W Indian market.

# YC ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Y.C. Electric registered 2,564 units in September 2022, with a 4% market share in electric three-wheeler manufacturers. The company seeks the maximum number of new buyers for its electric three-wheeler vehicles like the Yatri Super, Yatri Deluxe, and E-Loader. However, Y.C. Electric sold 1,413 units in September 2021.

# MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA

In September 2022 compared to September 2021, Mahindra saw a trend of 3.84% in retail sales of 3W vehicles.

Mahindra Alpha and Alpha Plus are the top vehicle models that provide a maximum facility with a 995 kg loading capacity at a low cost.

# SAERA ELECTRIC AUTO

One more electric battery (E-rickshaw) operated vehicle manufacturer Saera Electric Auto ranks 5th in the Indian Auto market with the brand Mayuri.

Mayuri has sold 2,149 units this year, with a positive growth of 3.36% in its retail sales.

# ATUL AUTO

Atul Auto Ltd has performed well with 2.25% given recent retail sales. A total of 1,437 units were sold in September 2022, which is high compared to last year.
